Gwent Outdoor Centres – mountainbikingGwent Outdoor Centres – mountainbikingThere are easy rides along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal near Gilwern as well as hard-packed routes in the Brecon Beacons like the Taff Trail. The Forest of Dean, nearest to our Hilston Park centre, offers off-road trails varying in length to suit all abilities.

And of course there are challenging off-road mountain-biking  trails all over the Brecon Beacons National Park. We host regular British Cycling leadership courses suitable for those wishing to lead their own groups.

We also offer National Governing Body Awards in canoeing, kayaking, climbing, caving, hill walking, orienteering and navigation.

All that fresh air on two wheels – whether it's easy cycling or challening off-road mountain-biking – will build confidence, self-esteem and fitness.

Our safety standards

What activities?

Safety first for all

At Gwent Outdoor Centres our experienced staff always put safety first. We are licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA), which is overseen by the Health and Safety Executive. The AALA was set up to ensure outdoor activity providers follow good safety management practices. These should allow young people to experience exciting and stimulating activities outdoors – without being exposed to avoidable risks.

We continually monitor and update our procedures to ensure the safety of the young people in our care.
