Expeditions can also be undertaken abroad. We have overseen a number of successful ‘gold’ canoe trips on the Dordogne in France. We offer standalone courses or we can offer a package the covers both training and assessment.

Our expeditions can be by foot or canoe and are mainly conducted in the South Wales area – other forms of expedition and other areas can be arranged but may incur additional charges, please contact us to discuss the options. If you have a group looking for an expedition then we often have availability during the school holidays.

We can provide students with all group equipment such as tents, mats, stoves, maps, and also able to provide some personal items if students don’t have them such as rucksacks and sleeping bags. Typical packages could include:

Bronze – foot-based expedition along Offa's Dyke, Wye Valley Walk, Monnow Valley Walk, Forest of Dean, Beacons Way.

Silver – foot-based expedition in the Black Mountains, canoe expedition on the Monmouth and Brecon canal.

Gold – foot-based expedition in the Brecon Beacons, canoe expedition on the river Wye, river Severn or in France on the Dordogne.

What activities?

Safety first for all

At Gwent Outdoor Centres our experienced staff always put safety first. We are licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA), which is overseen by the Health and Safety Executive. The AALA was set up to ensure outdoor activity providers follow good safety management practices. These should allow young people to experience exciting and stimulating activities outdoors – without being exposed to avoidable risks.

We continually monitor and update our procedures to ensure the safety of the young people in our care.
